I love my baby - MONEY 124

Tommy & Eddie

Brothers Tommy (“Buster”) and Eddie Williams had a strong history of doo wop and soul group involvement before and after they cut a couple of duet 45s. The Class 45 is a Northern stomper without much merit but the Money 45 is considerably more accomplished. “I Don’t Want Nobody” is a strong uptempo song featuring some Stax like horn charts but the cream side is ListenI Love My Baby is a carefully wrought ballad benefitting from a fine production by Don Julian. The initial rap is well handled and the guys harmonies are pretty much faultless – a nice 45.

Thanks to Alejandro Borrero for the suggestion.

Note ~ Both sides of the Money 45 can be found on Ace UK CDs in “The Soul Of Money” series and “I love my baby” is also on the same company’s “Best Of Soul Ballads” CD.
