Chuck Star

Here is a completely unheralded piece of “early soul” from the obscure Chuck Star whose only 45 this appears to be. I like his rich dark vocal on this highly listenable song a lot especially when he cuts loose on the run out groove. We must deduct a point though for the screechy female chorus being far too intrusive. The designated top side “Shirley” is strong doo wop influenced soul as well making this 45 a very good double sider.
