For my taste Con Me is simply one of the most emotional songs Sam Dees has ever written. And fortunately this version by the obscure Chicago group the Paragons brings all the depth of the lyric right out into the open. And the musical setting sounds just right too – a dead slow pace which gives the high baritone lead plenty of room to operate and a really subtle orchestral arrangement. The singing is first class too – tight harmonies and the voice in front full of gospel nuances. The nearly accapella ending is the icing on a very tasty cake. Kudos to arranger Tom Tom Washington and producer Archie Russell.
