Aside from the fine 45s by Lionel Ruffin and Raymond George, this double sided winner from Tommy Jones is the single on the Houma label from Louisiana that I recommend. Come Home To Me is a deep soul ballad in the classic style – And you’ve got to love Tommy’s Otis Redding style vocals, especially towards the run out groove when he starts cutting loose.
Come home to me / It’s too late ~ HOUMA 1015 (mid 60s)
Note ~ The Tom Jones 45 on Symbol (which I really like) sounds a different artist altogether. Can anybody confirm?
