A couple of years ago when funk was in the ascendant among the dancers this obscure 45 from New York fetched over $1,000. I really can’t hear why “Since I Was A Little Girl” was so popular, but the other side, the official “A” side, Straight Talk is much more my thing. Lead singer Vivian Lee does a really bang up job on this hard hitting ballad, full of scorn for her errant man. The backing is rather subdued – muffled even – but the accompanying vocalists come through loud and clear.
