Come over to my world - VAN 004669

Bobby Sanders

This delicious deep obscurity from the Texas based Van concern is a bit of a puzzle. It doesn’t sound like the West Coast based entrepreneur who recorded the Younghearts, Cool Sounds and McKinley Travis for his Soultown company – so this may well be a different guy altogether. My guess is that this is a white singer fronting the band the Psychlones credited on the 45 but even if this hypothesis is way out "Come Over To My World" is a beauty. The chord structure is first class and the horns are right in the pocket as is the very competent guitarist. Over all this Sanders swoops and soars, with some very well rendered high tenor flourishes. Lovely.
